Sreeleathers Jamshedpur: Kiranmayee Dey was born to rule, says Shekhar Dey

Sreeleathers remembers Kiranmayee on 99th birth anniv  

Jamshedpur, May 5: Sreeleathers family paid tribute to Kiranmayee Dey, wife of freedom fighter and founder of Sreeleathers, Suresh Chandra Dey, on her 99th birth anniversary on Thursday, May 5.

Shekhar Dey, son of founder Suresh Chandra Dey and Kiranmayee Dey led the proceedings by paying floral tributes to the portrait of Kiranmayee Dey at the homage function organised at the Sreeleathers showroom in Kamani Centre, Bistupur.

Addressing the gathering, Shekhar Dey, said, “Kiranmayee Dey was born to rule. If she would have been born in a developed nation she could easily have been the head of state.”  

“Kiranmayee Dey was not literate but well educated. She studied only till class 3 but was fearless, confident and sharp decision maker be it in household affairs or in the business front and played an instrumental role in setting up of the shoe trade empire,” added Sreeleathers Director Shekhar Dey.

He further said, “Kiranmayee Dey was the driving force behind Sreeleathers success and it was her decision and support to Suresh Chandra Dey right from the foundation days made it a renowned footwear retail chain.”

Social worker Bhaskar Mitra said, “The saddest part of a woman’s life is hearing about the death of his son, but Kiranmayee Dey remained strong even during Ashish Dey’s death at a young age.

Kiranmayee Dey was born in 1923 in Assam and later to moved to Jamshedpur where she breathed her last in 2011.
