Sports a priority of the state government: Jharkhand CM

Under-17 Sub Junior Boys / Girls National Wrestling Competition and Federation Cup Senior Men / Women National Wrestling Competition begins

Ranchi, April 15: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren stressed that sports is one of the priorities of the state government. 

“There should be proper environment for sports. Players should get a chance to hone and showcase their talents and state is serious on this point and had made a sports policy which would be cleared soon as sports is one of the priorities of the government” said Hemant Soren after inaugurating the Under-17 Sub Junior Boys / Girls National Wrestling Competition and Federation Cup Senior Men / Women National Wrestling Competition at Shaheed Ganpat Rai Indoor Stadium, Khelgaon, Ranchi on Friday. 

“We are constantly encouraging the players. To give them every possible opportunity to move forward, the government is making plans in this direction. I  extend best wishes to the wrestlers who came from across the country.  You will get full opportunity to show your talent and stamina in this competition. The time to come is yours. I am sure that your performance will make the country proud all over the world,” said Soren. 

The Chief Minister said that there is a lot of potential in sports in the state. There is no dearth of sports talent here. Many players here have brought laurels to the state and the country with their performance in many other sports including hockey and football. Notably, many sports talents have emerged from the remote rural areas, who have represented the state and the country. The Chief Minister also said that the girls here take part in sports with great enthusiasm and have been increasing the honor and respect of all of us with their sports. 
The Chief Minister said that all instructions have been given to the Sports Department to nurture the sports talents here. Several steps have been taken by the government in this direction to ensure that there is no shortage of players.

The Chief Minister said that during the last two years, many sports events were affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 
“In such difficult and unforeseen circumstances, some sports competitions were organized by the government, following full protection, caution and abiding with Covid-protocol. It is the effort of the government that sports and sportspersons should get full opportunity to progress and they will be provided with all the necessary facilities by the government,” added Soren. 

On this occasion, the Chief Minister felicitated the wrestlers of Jharkhand, who won medals in the Under-15 National Boys/Girls Wrestling Competition held in December last year, by giving them and citations and wished them good luck for their better performance in future.
