Spike in theft cases raises security concerns in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Nov 22: The city has witnessed a sudden surge in theft incidents over the past few days, triggering growing concern among residents.

Multiple police station areas have reported cases of burglary, with thieves targeting locked homes and escaping with cash, jewelry, and valuables.

Two fresh incidents were reported from Mango and Kamlapur police station areas.

In both cases, unidentified burglars broke into houses while the occupants were away.

The first incident took place on November 17 at the residence of Durga Charan Majhi in Katin under Kamlapur police station.

Majhi was not at home when thieves took advantage of the situation to break in and ransack the cupboards and storage boxes, making away with cash and essential household items.

The theft came to light when Majhi returned to find the house in disarray and immediately lodged a complaint.

The second incident occurred on November 20 in Mango’s Gurudwara Road locality.

Thieves broke the lock of the main entrance of Shankar Lal’s residence while the family was out.

Upon returning late at night, the family discovered the house completely overturned and several valuable items missing, including jewelry and cash.

These incidents have cast a spotlight on the city’s law and order situation.

Residents have expressed concern over the escalating theft cases.

Police officials said they have registered FIRs in both cases and launched investigations. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to identify the culprits, and patrols have been intensified to curb such criminal activities
