SPICMACAY Manipuri dance performances enthrall JPS students

Jamshedpur, April 13: Dancers of Manipuri from Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPICMACAY) under the aegis of Spic Macay chapter of Jamshedpur Public School (JPS) organised a dance recital and �Dhol Chelam� by famous Sinam Basu Singh and his group who hail from Imphal (Manipur).

It was an enthralling performance and the students of classes VII & VIII enjoyed it thoroughly as well as learnt about the culture of Northeastern state. The children were excited to watch the energetic performance of �Dhol Chelam� by the artists.

The artists performed mesmerizing dances intensely with grace & commitment. Students & teachers were enthralled and mesmerized by the stupendous performance. Special Manipuri dance too was presented by Sinam Basu, who is Sangeet Natak Academy Yuva Award winner.

The programme was a grand success due to the enthusiastic efforts of the school Principal Ms. Namita Agarwal, the Spic Macay co-ordinater Ms. Bharti Banerjee along with the whole hearted cooperation of the concerned faculty members.

Sinam Basu Singh has received accolades from the art connoisseurs and scholars for the grace, beauty, lyricism and power of the vibrant dance and the technique of his choreographies like Geet Govindam, Sarasa Vasante, Kamdev Nartan etc.

Basu is an approved �A� grade artist of National Doordarshan, Delhi and also empanelled for ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relation). He has been honoured with innumerable awards like National Scholarship (ministry of culture),�Nrityanjali� the best male dancer of North East India.
