SPG conducts security check ahead of PM�s visit

Ranchi: Special Protection Group (SPG) took charge of security at Prabhat Tara ground in Ranchi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing a public meeting after inaugurating a power grid on 21st August.

The SPG team officials including a DIG rank officer and three SPs held a meeting with the state police and administration officials to review security arrangements made for the VVIP visit.

Meanwhile Chief Minister Hemant Soren held a protocol meeting with the state bureaucrats today to discuss PM�s security and arrangements to welcome him.

The deputy commissioner of Ranchi Vinay Kumar Choubey said, “The meeting was convened to discuss security arrangements and plans. All vital aspects were covered during the meeting. The team reviewed the security arrangements at the airport and the programme venue.”

State government announced high alert at the Ranchi airport in view of the PM’s visit. The SPG officials also visited the site where a helipad is being constructed for the PM’s aircraft and suggested some measures to ensure foolproof security.

District administration officials including health department along with officials of Airports Authority of India, Central Industrial Security Force and BSNL were also present in the meeting.

SPG has asked local police to beef up surveillance at the ground and bar entry of media-persons to sensitive areas.

The SSP of Ranchi Prabhat Kumar said, �We have deputed policemen here to maintain surveillance throughout the programme.”
