Jamshedpur, March 14: A shocking case of reckless driving surfaced in the city on Saturday after a speeding car ran over a three-year-old child in the Burmamines area, leaving him critically injured.
The horrifying incident, which occurred near Star Talkies under Burmamines police station area, was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.
According to eyewitnesses, the child was playing by the roadside when a car approaching at high speed suddenly ran over him. The impact was so severe that both the front and rear wheels of the vehicle reportedly passed over the toddler’s body, leaving bystanders horrified.
Panic gripped the neighbourhood immediately after the accident. Local residents rushed to the spot and quickly took the injured child to a hospital for treatment.
The child has been identified as three-year-old Ayush. He was immediately admitted to Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur, where doctors are treating him under close medical supervision.
Hospital sources said the child remains in critical condition and doctors are making every possible effort to save him.
On receiving information, the police from Burmamines police station reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Officers are examining CCTV footage from nearby cameras to identify the car involved in the accident and trace the driver responsible.
The incident has triggered anger among local residents, who have demanded strict measures to curb over speeding in residential areas. They said reckless driving in neighbourhood lanes continues to endanger lives, especially those of children, and urged authorities to enforce stricter traffic control to prevent such tragedies.
