Special budget for blind, dumb and deaf to continue their studies

Ranchi, Dec 24: The welfare minister Lewis Marandi said that the government wants the blind, deaf and dumb people living in the state to achieve their dream.

They should also enjoy the life like normal people. She said that the upcoming budget will have a provision for the blind, deaf and dumb people to continue their studies further so that they can go to other states to pursue their studies. She said that a special campus will be arranged to develop their abilities. She said it while addressing a press conference at Suchna Bhawan.

Referring to the achievements of the department Mrs. Marandi said that 3,426,667 students have been provided with pre-matric scholarship scheme and Rs. 23375 lakh has been spent on it. She appreciated the bicycle scheme, costume supply scheme, the usefulness of residential schools and Eklavya Ashram Schools.

She said that after formation of Jharkhand, 507 hostels were sanctioned for construction, in which 373 are complete and 134 are under-construction. She pointed out that a 15-point committee has been formed for the welfare of minorities. She said that one judge is appointed for WAQF tribunal and the Building Department was sought for the ground. She said that within a month, the tribunal will shift into the new building.

She said that Chief Minister Raghubar Das dream of developing S.T. village in the state. 5755 villages having more than 80 percent scheduled tribes in tribal-dominated Jharkhand have been selected for rejuvenation. Formation of Tribal Advisory Committee and ST Development Council are part of that.

The minister said that 51 percent fund of the Welfare Department and 42% fund of the Social Welfare Department has been expensed till November. She said that corruption is being screwed and online system is strengthened.
