Sonali Adesara’s rangoli of Lord Krishna mesmerizes Jamshedpur on Gujarati New Year

Jamshedpur: As the city rang in the Gujarati New Year on Wednesday, residents were treated to a spectacular visual feast at Shrikunj House, Northern Town, where Jamshedpur artist Sonali Adesara unveiled a breathtaking rangoli dedicated to Lord Krishna. With the floor as her canvas and her fingers as brushes, Sonali transformed the traditional festival decoration into a mesmerizing piece of art, radiating peace, happiness, and positivity.

Spanning five feet in length and four feet in width, the intricate artwork of ‘Madhava’ took Sonali a marathon 16 hours to complete. Every curve, shade, and detail reflects her devotion, capturing the playful yet divine essence of Lord Krishna. Observers were left spellbound by the way the colours blended seamlessly, giving the rangoli the depth and richness of a finely painted canvas rather than the usual powdered form.

Seated on the floor amidst scattered pigments and sketches, Sonali worked in serene focus, pausing only to wipe her brow in the stillness of the afternoon. “Each stroke is a conversation with the almighty,” she says softly, her smile reflecting satisfaction as the image comes alive under her hands. Such dedication, she adds, is made possible by the constant encouragement of her family — Ashwin Adesara, her father-in-law, and Kaushal Adesara, her husband — pillars of support from the respected Chhaganlal Dayalji Sons family.

A native of Mumbai, Sonali has made Jamshedpur her home, weaving the city’s spirit into her artistry. “Through my art, I hope to spread an aura of peace, happiness, and positivity,” she explains. Her rangoli not only draws attention for its scale and detail but also resonates deeply with viewers for its soulful depiction of devotion, culture, and celebration. This vibrant artwork stands as a reminder that traditional forms, when infused with love and creativity, can transcend boundaries and touch hearts, one colour at a time.
