Jamshedpur, March 6: The Sona Devi University paid tribute to the pioneer of pharmacy education in India, Mahadev Lal Schroff, on the occasion of his birth anniversary at the SDU School of Pharmacy, Ghatshila, on Friday.
The commemorative programme was organised to honour the remarkable contribution of M.L. Schroff, widely regarded as the father of pharmacy education in India.
The event was led by the Principal of the institute, Sudhanshu Shandilya, who highlighted Schroff’s life, his academic vision and his pioneering role in shaping pharmacy education in the country.

Head of the Department Rahul Kumar Shaw described Schroff’s ideals as a continuing source of inspiration for students and said it was the responsibility of educators and learners alike to uphold the academic values he established.
During the programme, faculty members Kishore Kumar Mahakur and Uma Mahto spoke about Schroff’s historic contributions to pharmacy education and encouraged students to pursue research-oriented and quality-driven learning.
Harsha Verma and Safeenaz Tayyaba urged students to imbibe Schroff’s ideals and work in the field of pharmacy with ethics, dedication and a spirit of service.
The event concluded with faculty members and staff offering floral tributes to the portrait of M.L. Schroff and reaffirming their commitment to follow his ideals. Prateek Tiwari, laboratory assistant, played an important role in organising the programme.
The programme served as a meaningful occasion for students and faculty to remember the history of pharmacy education and the visionary contributions of its pioneers.
