Adityapur S-Type pandal to be inaugurated on Panchami
Jamshedpur: As the vibrant Durga Puja celebrations draw near in Jamshedpur, a grand replica of Gujarat’s historic Somnath Temple has become the talk of the town. Prepared by the S-Type Singhbhum Boys Cricket Club in Adityapur, the stunning structure will be a major attraction this year. A team of 50 skilled artisans from Mayapur, West Bengal, have been working tirelessly for the last three months to recreate the grandeur of the Somnath Temple.
The pandal, which is in its final stages, is likely to draw crowds. Every part, from the design to the overall structure, has been meticulously crafted to provide an authentic temple-like experience for visitors.

Adding to the splendor of the pandal is the famous lighting from Chandan Nagar, known for creating an illusion of daylight even at night. Organizers said that the lighting enhances the experience, making visitors feel as though they are standing before the actual Somnath Temple in Gujarat.
Manoj Singh, chief patron of the Durga Puja Committee, and president Bablu Singh Dinesh, stated, “ This is set to be one of the most impressive pandals in Jamshedpur this year. The Singhbhum Boys Cricket Club has been organizing Durga Puja at this venue since 1972.”
This Somnath-inspired pandal is shaping up to be the highlight of this year’s Durga Puja festival in Jamshedpur. Its grandeur and impressive lighting will offer a unique experience for attendees, and large crowds are expected to visit during the celebrations. Standing at approximately 100 feet wide and 80 feet high, the pandal is a sight to behold, closely resembling the iconic Somnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.
Durga Puja Committee president Bablu Singh further said, “Although the inauguration was initially scheduled for the first day of Navratri, bad weather caused delays in the construction process and the pandal’s grand opening will now take place on Panchami (fifth day of Navratri) Monday.
The replica of the Somnath Temple is sure to mesmerize devotees, offering a spiritual experience unlike any other this Durga Puja season.
With artisans working day and night to complete the construction, committee members, including treasurer Sanjeev Pandey and key organizers such as Neeru Singh, Prakash Mehta, Sanjeev Singh Babua, Sudhir Kumar Singh, and Bunty Singh, are working hard to ensure the success of the Puja and the accompanying fair.
