SNSVM student Megha shares ISRO experience

Ghatshila, July 6: Megha Sharma, a class IX student of Sant Nandlal Smriti Vidya Mandir (SNSVM) in Ghatshila, who was one of the few selected for the 15 day ISRO’s ‘Young Scientist’ Program. A total of 150 students of class IX from across India were selected through a quiz in which Megha too was a winner.

Sharing her experiences upon her return, she said that there were a total of 30 participants in her group from different states of India. Her daily routine was linked to her allround development.

“I got the rare opportunity of observing various other planets very closely and the rings around Saturn were the centre of special attraction for us,” she said and added, “From the sound of rocket launch to the launch pad, pollution and temperature gauges, data centers were all presented to us and these constituted our thrilling experience. On the last day of our program, we got a chance to visit Sriharikota where preparations for missions like Chandrayan-III, Gaganyan and PSLV C-53 were on and these were launched on June 30.” Various quiz competitions and challenges were organized during the program in which Megha and her team emerged at the top. On Wednesday, during the joint assembly prayer session, Megha expressed her gratitude to ISRO, the Coordinator of the program, Sumita Bhattacharya and all the school fraternity.

During her brief on the ISRO experience, Megha Sharma motivated other SNSVM students for participating in such programmes in future.

Those present on the occasion included School Manager Dr Prasenjit Karmakar and Principal Nilkamal Sinha who honoured Megha Sharma with a memento and citation while praising her as a pride of the school. The faculty and students congratulated Megha and wished her well in future.
