The departments like Blood Bank, maternity and Child Health (MCH) and nursing hostel have been due to the crisis.
Though the authorities of the government hospital tried to take power for the blood bank and MCH, but patients as well as the doctors in the Skin department and also the inmates of nursing hostels are suffering without power since the past 72 hours.
Deputy superintendent, Nakul Prasad Chaudhury said that a technical snag has led to the situation. A cable has been burnt due to a snag, causing the power supply to blood bank, skin care department, nursing hostel and MCH has to plunge into darkness. We have, however, managed to save the stock of blood by making alternative arrangement for the power supply and also in the MCH where child immunization work is done. But the skin department and nursing hostel are still in darkness,” said Chaudhury.
The deputy superintendent informed that the Jusco provides the power to the medical college hospital, but its power supply is made to a point where meter unit has been fixed.
“As per the agreement beyond the point of meter unit, Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd (JBVNL) has to look after the power distribution to the entire hospital and also its maintenance. We have lodged complaint with the JBVNL and a junior engineer is camping at the hospital for mending the problem, but the intermittent rain is creating a problem,” he said.
Chaudhury said for getting the power snag repaired, the JBVNL has brought all the necessary equipment and also manpower, but due to rain it has delayed.
