Jamshedpur, Aug 31: East Jamshedpur Assembly legislator Saryu Roy along with Bharatiya Janata Morcha (BJM) convener Ajay Sinha, the MLAs personal assistant Sudhir Kumar, legislative representative Hareram Singh today took a survey of cleanliness and sanitary work of JNAC being undertaken in Bhuinyadih, Lal Bhatta Babudih, Refugee Colony, East Bengal Colony, Nirmalnagar and Chhayanagar.
The team saw that the river flowing through the colonies were clogged with garbage that had accumulated and had not been removed. This was in spite of the fact that the contractor who had taken the job had to supply 50 workers for the cleaning purpose but only 31 were found to be working. When asked, the contractors supervisor said that four workers were posted at former Chief Ministers Agrico residence which was against the terms of the contract. This was confirmed by JNAC official Shantanu Ghosh.
It was also confirmed that the JNAC Special Officer too was aware of the fact. As a result, Saryu Roy and his team members said that even at a time when COVID-19 infection was rampant, scant attention was being paid to cleaning work which in fact was the need of the hour.
