Jamshedpur, Dec 2: As part of the ambitious Agri Smart Village Scheme, six villages from East Singhbhum district have been selected for development in 2024-25. The initiative aims to strengthen the financial stability of farmers and bring about comprehensive development in these areas, making them model villages for sustainable farming practices.

District Agriculture Officer B Birua announced that these selected villages will undergo a transformation, with various schemes implemented to improve income sources for the local farmers. The focus will be on water conservation, tree-based farming, and reducing dependency on water resources. The state government has allocated a budget of 20 crores for the development of 100 Agri Smart Villages, with East Singhbhum being one of the key districts under this initiative.

The selection of villages was made based on recommendations from local MLAs. The six villages chosen for this project in East Singhbhum include Gaudgoda (Jamshedpur block), Khurshi (Potka), Khedua (Patamda), Paharpur (Bodam), Deoli (Musabani), and Mudathakurra (Chakulia block). These villages will benefit from various government schemes across different departments to ensure holistic development.

The goal is to create self-sustaining farming communities that will serve as a model for other rural areas. The initiative will emphasize preventing soil erosion, conserving water, and promoting eco-friendly agricultural practices, thus ensuring long-term benefits for farmers and their communities.
