Six persons injured as railway boundary wall collapses in Jamshedpur

Heavy rains led to mishap

Jamshedpur: At least six persons were injured, two of them seriously as a portion of the railway boundary wall along Station-Parsudih Road collapsed on Monday morning.

Those injured were sitting close to the boundary wall waiting for buses to the places like Chaibasa, Haldipokhar and other places in West Singhbhum.

The injured were rushed the Sadar Hospital in Khasmahal by the local police as the news of the boundary wall collapsed spread. Soon after the incident, railway protection force (RPF) personnel arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. Two of the injured were referred to Tata Main Hospital as their condition was serious.

 Three others are admitted at the Sadar Hospital and they have been identified as Mohammed Javed (35), Dhananjay Yadav (40) and Rinku Prasad. The sixth victim was shifted to a  private nursing-home by his family members who had come to the Sadar Hospital immediately after getting the information about the mishap.

The boundary wall that collapsed  was located behind the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) building along the Station-Parsudih road at about 11.30 am. The boundary wall was eight ft high and the portion that collapsed wall  measured 70 ft in length.

Railway officials said that intermittent and heavy showers during the past 24 hours had weakened the soil resulting in the incident.
