Six kids injured as ceiling collapses at DAVPS Gua

Gua, February 15: Six children were seriously injured when false ceiling of a classroom in DAV Public School (DAVPS), Gua, came down on Tuesday, sources said.

Sources said the mishap occurred around 10.30 am when classes were on. The incident occurred in class IVA. A large number of students were present in the classroom when the false ceiling suddenly broke down, sources said.

The injured students were taken to SAIL Hospital in Guta. They included Arpita Kumari, Kritika, Priyanshi Nayak, Jasmina, Gunjan Gope and Pratibha Kumari.

The incident resulted in a panicky situation with the school management and parents rushing to the hospital to see the injured. The officer in-charge of Gua police station Anil Kumar Yadav also visited the school and hospital.

Some parents alleged that the school management had neglected safety of students by not repairing the false ceiling in time. They said the school management was only too keen on increasing fees every year.

A large number of children of SAIL employees come here for education. This is a prominent school in Saranda forest area.
