Six Jharkhand labourers, including five minors, held hostage in Gujarat freed, returning home today

Chandil: Six labourers from Jharkhand who were held hostage in Rajkot, Gujarat, have been freed. Five of these workers are minors. All of them are residents of Kukdu block under Seraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand.

Jharkhand police, with the help of Gujarat police, are bringing him back home after freeing them from a company in Rajkot. They are likely to reach home today.

The family members of these laborers had given written information to the police saying that they were taken in the name of providing them jobs in a company named Keravit based in Rajkot. Yashwant Tanti, a resident of Kandra, had lured him away. After going there, they were being held hostage and exploited. All the labourers were being forced to work.
Not only this, he was not even being allowed to contact his family members. After being informed by the family members of the workers, the local police came into action. District Council Vice President Madhushree Mahato had written a letter to the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of the district, urging them to take initiative to bring back the workers safely. After this the police sent a team to Rajkot and the workers were freed.
