Jamshedpur: Six temporary COVID test centres have been set up at various points in the city including Thakkar Bappa Scholl (Dhatkidih), Community Centre (Kagalnagar), ME School (Jugsalai), Kerala Samajam Model School (Golmuri), Kaushal Vikas Kendra (Pardih) and Sidgora Town Hall (Bagunhatu). In view of the chances of coronavirus infection, the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District magistrate Suraj Kumar has urged citizens especially those coming in to the district from other states to get their COVID tests done at any of the six centres as the pandemic had not yet been eradicated. He urged the people to cooperate with the district administration’s efforts to curb the infection by getting themselves tested.
The Deputy Commissioner has entrusted the SDOs of Dhalbhum and Ghatshila to ensure proper functioning of these test centres as also people getting themselves tested. Special eye is being kept on crowded places and on people coming in from other states, market places, bus stands and railway stations while observing COVID protocols. People at these places would be made to undergo Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT). The DC has directed the SDOs to coordinate with BDOs and Incident Commanders who will ion turn coordinate with the Medical Officer In-charge (MOIC) to ensure that COVID testing initiative does not falter. He has also set targets of 5,000 tests on Saturdays and 10,000 on Sundays.
Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar further appealed to the citizens to get themselves tested for COVID infection by undergoing RAT at any of the six check centres set up by the district administration. He asked people to get themselves tested and prevent the spread of the viral infection to other persons.
