Jamshedpur: Situation was under control, but sensitive in Makdampur locality of Parsudih on Saturday, a couple of days after the attack on a local youth by a group of armed assailants.
A heavy deployment of Jharkhand Armed Police and India Reserve Battalion personnel was made at all entry and exit points of the slum area in view of the incident. Police frisked bikers and pedestrians entering and leaving Makdampur to ensure peace in the area. Two security barriers were put up near the railway level crossing at Parsudih.
Although shops in Parsudih Market and Makdampur opened normally this morning, a good number of them were shut since Thursday last. The incidents of attack followed by lathicharge on the people by police and pelting of stones on security forces led to apprehensions in many minds regarding safety. Many people are still awaiting things to become normal.
Sources said a stray incident of bursting of crackers late Friday night led the police and paramilitary staff to run a security check in Machhua Gali of Makdampur.
Police patrolled the entire area at night, but found nothing unusual.
SSP of Jamshedpur Anoop T Mathew said an order had been given to the police teams to deal strictly with trouble-mongers.
