Jamshedpur, May 5: Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) president Vijay Anand Moonka has demanded more quotas for the Jamshedpur passport service centre to expedite passport services.

“The passport service centre issues 60 passports daily. This is a very small number, given the population of Jamshedpur. Also, it takes over a month’s time for the residents of Jamshedpur to get their passport in hand. In the passport centres in other districts, the passport is usually issued in a day or two as the daily quota there is much more as compared to Jamshedpur. This is why we demand that Jamshedpur service centre should get a daily quota of 200,” said Moonka.

Moonka said a considerable number of people comprising businessmen, students and others in the city applied for passport every month. Timely issuance of passport is necessary for the future of students as well as the members of business community, he said.
