
Jamshedpur: The biennial elections of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) � the oldest and largest trade body of Kolhan will take place on September 24.
The trade outfit on Tuesday notified that the 68th annual general meeting will take place a day prior to the polls. The polls will see candidates vying for the post of president, general secretary, vice-president ( 4) , secretary ( 4), a treasurer and 30 executive committee members. Five trustees would also be elected for a period of four years from October , 2019 to September, 2023.
�We are all set to ensure that the polling process is smooth and fair,� said SCCI president Ashok Bhalotia. Bhalotia, who is trying his luck for the second consecutive term will fight against Suresh Sonthalia, who is yet to announce his candidature. Sonthalia, a former president of the trade outfit is currently a national secretary of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).
The nomination forms will be available at the Bistupur-based Chamber Bhawan from September 9. General Secretary of SCCI, Vijay Anand Moonka said that filled and duly proposed nomination papers will be received at the Chamber Bhawan on September 13 and September 14 between 11 am and 7 pm.
The oldest traders body of the state (second in undivided Bihar) SCCI which was constituted in 1950 has close to 1100 members and is the largest body looking after businessmen interest in Kolhan region comprising East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts.
