Jamshedpur: The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) welcomed the amended Income Tax provisions today, describing the changes—effective April 1, 2026—as a progressive step toward a transparent, business-friendly taxation system.
Chamber President Manav Kedia stated that the reforms will streamline compliance and encourage more individuals to join the tax net. He noted that increased participation will strengthen government revenues and accelerate India’s development.
Honorary General Secretary Punit Kauntia announced that the Chamber will soon organize a seminar for businessmen and entrepreneurs. This session will provide detailed insights and practical guidance on navigating the new provisions.
Key Highlights of the Income Tax Act, 2025
Rajeev Aggarwal, Vice President (Finance and Taxation), highlighted how the new Act significantly reduces legal complexity:
-
Single “Tax Year”: The reform replaces the confusing “financial year” and “assessment year” system with one unified “tax year.”
-
Default Regime: The new tax regime now serves as the default option, though taxpayers retain the flexibility to opt for the old regime.
-
Middle-Class Relief: Provisions like standard deductions and rebates could result in zero tax liability for individuals earning up to approximately ₹12–12.75 lakh annually.
Boosting Transparency and Efficiency
Secretary (Finance and Taxation) Anshul Ringasia emphasized that small traders and professionals will benefit from increased limits for presumptive taxation. He added that the government has introduced new ITR forms and stricter disclosure norms to enhance accountability.
According to Ringasia, these reforms should reduce technical disputes and ensure faster case resolutions, creating a more efficient framework for all users.
The Chamber expressed confidence that these measures will foster a robust tax ecosystem, ultimately benefiting both the individual taxpayer and the broader economy.
