Jamshedpur: The steel city’s canine fever reached a crescendo on Day 2 of the Jamshedpur Kennel Club’s (JKC) Championship Dog Show, as Simba, a Golden Retriever, stole the spotlight to claim the prestigious Best in Show title.
The 79th Annual All-breeds Championship, held at the JRD Archery Ground, saw thousands of dog lovers gather to witness elite breeds compete for top honours under the scrutiny of an international panel of judges.

While Simba dominated the ring, several other breeds showcased exceptional discipline and temperament.

Specialty Shows: Beagles and Labradors Shine
The morning session kicked off with high-stakes Specialty Shows. The Beagle and Labrador-Retriever categories were evaluated by a distinguished international jury, including Perttu Stalhberg (Finland), Natalia Mestvirishvilli (Georgia), Irina Poletaeva (Finland), and Navin Sangvivake (Thailand).
- Beagle Specialty: The “Best in Show” was awarded to Emma, owned by Mr. Praveen Kumar.
- Labrador-Retriever Specialty: Judged by Irina Poletaeva, the top honours went to Davidoff’s Roja, owned by Chandrajit Chakraborty.
Judging Excellence and Community Spirit
The judging criteria extended beyond mere aesthetics. Dogs were evaluated on their physical health, breed-standard physique, and temperament. The Chief Guest, Mr. Uttam Singh (Vice President, Tata Steel Kalinganagar), presented the trophies to the winners. Also in attendance were Mrs. Ruchi Narendran (JKC President) and Mr. Ranjan Kumar Singh (JKC Secretary).

The event drew a massive crowd, with local families enjoying the “joyful interactions” and the “polished acts” of the participating canines.
What’s Next: 80th & 81st Championships
The excitement isn’t over yet. The 80th and 81st Annual All-breeds Championship Dog Shows are scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the JRD Archery Ground. This back-to-back format promises even more competition as top-tier breeders from across the country vie for the final trophies of the season.
