Sikh Federation organizes funeral of bike to oppose rise in fuel prices

Jamshedpur: All India Sikh Students Federation members took out the funeral procession of a motorcycle here on Tuesday in a unique bid to protest the recent rise in the prices of petrol and diesel.

Leading the procession, the president of the Federation for Eastern India, Satnam Singh Gambhir said, The government has dealt a severe blow to the already struggling people of the country. The common man has suffered the most since the prices of petrol and diesel have increased beyond expectation.

The outfit members said the adverse impact of the continuous rise in petrol and diesel prices was evident everywhere as the prices of commodities of daily use had risen in an unprecedented manner. They said the Central and state governments should nip the sharp price rise in petrol and diesel prices in the bud so that the common man does not have to suffer.

The protestors said if the prices are not rolled back they would be forced to wage a bigger agitation. They also threatened to uproot the government in the next elections in case their demands were not fulfilled soon.

The outfit members said the petrol and diesel prices were relatively lower in the neighbouring countries while in India the prices had shot up.

Among those present during the protest included Paramjit Singh, Sarli Harpreet Singh, Baljeet Singh Sansoa, Sarabjeet Singh, Balbir Singh, Manmeet Luthra, Amritpal Singh, Trilok Singh and Harmeet Singh.
