Side lower berths in trains to be more comfortable

Jamshedpur: Railway department is all set to make journey on side lower berths of train compartments more comfortable.

At present, sleeping on the side lower berths of a compartment carries with itself a degree of inconvenience because the seats are not comfortable and they have a gap in the middle portion.

Sources said the Railway is first going to start a trial of the plan in the sleeper coach of Sampark Kranti Express.

If the plan works out, side seats of 66 trains will be changed. Work is on to modify the design of the side lower berths at the railway coach factory, sources said.

As per the plan, an additional seat would be added to the lower berths which would be convertible into bunk beds for sleeping purpose. There would be no gap between the two opposite seats and this would give comfort to the passengers.
