Jamshedpur, April 11: On Thursday afternoon a speeding car hit a seven-month-old girl and her 10-year-old brother on Slag Road under Golmuri police station. The impact caused the girl to fall onto the car’s windshield, and she was dragged for some distance before the driver stopped the vehicle and fled the scene.

Local residents managed to apprehend three youths who were passengers in the car and severely thrashed them and held them captive. The car was vandalized by the irate crowd.

The injured girl was rushed to MGM Hospital for treatment, where her condition was reported to be critical. On receiving the news, Golmuri police arrived at the scene and attempted to take the detained youths into custody. However, the angry crowd began attacking the youths in front of the police.

Despite efforts by the police to transport the youths in a jeep, the mob turned their aggression towards the police vehicle, surrounding it and posing further challenges for the law enforcers.
