Jamshedpur : Union Human Resource Development Minister M M Pallam Raju today said that there is a shortage of six lakhs teachers in the country and initiatives are being taken to meet the situation.
Addressing the media at the circuit house the Minister said that the shortage of teachers is a vital issue in order to provide quality education in the country.
When questioned over the violation of violation of Right to Education Act by private schools, he said that all the schools irrespectively need to follow the guidelines of the act. He said that the Government is also reviewing the progress of RTE. Any school find flouting the Act would be taken to task.
When asked about on Midday meal scheme, Raju noted that a National level Monitoring committee has been formed to oversee the implementation of the scheme and to ensure such incidents do not recur, he said He said the committee will look into the quality aspect of the programme and the effectiveness of the supply chain and hygiene of the place.
He also informed that the Government will also form a National level Monitoring committee for the private engineering colleges offering MBA programmes.
