Shooting kicks off for Santhali flicks Arjun and Sona Miru

Ranchi: The shooting of two Santhali films Arjun and Sona Miru commenced with their mahurat shots at the Information Building on Friday. The Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Kumar inaugurated the mahurat shots on the occasion.

In his address, Kumar said the Santhali films had a large viewership in Jharkhand. He said the films in Santhali and other regional languages will soon be seen giving tough competition to the mainstream Bollywood films if the state government continues giving support to the Jharkhand film industry.

Kumar said the state government had received as many as 50 proposals for the production of films in Jharkhand. He said the film industry will see a meteoric rise in the next few years as Film Development Corporation had been formed in the state.

Today many films are being shot in the different parts of Jharkhand as there are many scenic and picturesque locations available here. The clear and cooperative film policy of the state government is also wooing film producers and directors from Mumbai and other parts of the country, he said.

Arjun will be released on 2nd February 2017 while Sona Miru will be released in June next year.
