Shitla Puja organized in Domjuri

Jadugora: Maa Shitla Puja was organized in Domjuri village of Jadugora with great fervour on Friday. A large number of villagers participated in the puja. According to the president of Adim Jharkhand Vaishnav Vairagi Committee Navdeep Das, �Shitla Puja is being organized in Domjuri for the last 70 years. This is done mainly to protect the people from epidemic diseases and other ailments apart from seeking general peace and well-being.�

Das said the village was gripped by an epidemic spread of chicken pox some 80 years ago. Later, the villagers began worshipping Goddess Shitla. Soon, the epidemic breakout subsided. This led the villagers to organize the puja every year.
