Seraikela, July 17: The body of senior journalist Sheikh Alauddin, who tragically died in a road accident on Tuesday, was laid to rest on Wednesday. The funeral procession saw participation from a wide cross-section of society, from common citizens to public figures.
On Wednesday morning, the body was transported from TMH to Saraikela Sadar Hospital, where a post-mortem was conducted before being handed over to the family. District Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla, DPRO Avinash Kumar, and Press Club President Manmohan Singh were among those who paid their respects.
The body was then taken to his ancestral home in Mudia. Among those paying tribute were former Union Minister Arjun Munda and his wife Meera Munda, Kharsawan MLA Dashrath Gagrai, Zila Parishad member Laxmi Sardar, Shambhu Mandal, senior journalists Brijbhushan Singh, Jaiprakash, Mohammad Dildar, Pramod Singh, Pratap Mishra, Lakhindra Nayak, BJP leader Manoj Kumar Chaudhary, Congress leader Samarendra Tiwari, and Ramkrishna Forging Limited official Shaktipad Senapati. They all offered their condolences to the bereaved family.
Former Union Minister Arjun Munda expressed his sorrow over Sheikh Alauddin’s untimely death, describing him as a dedicated and outspoken journalist who would be greatly missed. Munda called on the government and district administration to provide immediate compensation to the family and to take concrete measures to prevent further road accidents.
Manmohan Singh, President of the Press Club of Saraikela-Kharsawan who attended the funeral, urged the district administration to locate the vehicle responsible for the accident and to take strict action. He spoke of the significant loss to the Press Club, describing Alauddin as a guardian whose guidance was invaluable. Brij Bhushan Singh echoed these sentiments, noting that Alauddin’s fearless and unbiased journalism left a lasting impact in the field, and his absence left a profound void.
