Neeraj Kumar Jha wins Committee Member seat

Jamshedpur, April 28: Shashi Bhushan Prasad was elected as the new President of the Tata Motors Workers Union (TMWU). In a by-election for a committee seat in the Foundry Division, Neeraj Kumar Jha secured victory.

In the by-election, Neeraj Kumar Jha received 57 votes, defeating his competitors — A.K. Kapai (39 votes), Ajay Kumar (24 votes), A.K. Tiwari (7 votes), and Amrit (6 votes). Voting took place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. under the supervision of Election Observer E. Satish Kumar, Chief Election Officer Chidanand Khandai, and members of the Election Conducting Committee. The counting of votes was conducted immediately afterward in the presence of all candidates, committee members, and General Secretary R.K. Singh.

At 5 p.m. on Monday, the Executive Committee of Tata Motors Workers Union convened a meeting at the Old Canteen premises. The meeting was chaired by B.K. Sharma and conducted by Prakash Vishwakarma. During the meeting, H.S. Saini proposed filling the vacant post of President by promoting the General Secretary, a move unanimously supported by the executive members.

Union Advisor Praveen Singh, addressing the gathering, stressed the importance of unity, solidarity, and time management in strengthening the union. Following discussions with union officials, General Secretary R.K. Singh officially announced the name of Shashi Bhushan Prasad as the new President, receiving a warm round of applause from all members.
The meeting concluded with a two-minute silence to pay tribute to the tourists who lost their lives in Pahalgam and a worker who had passed away the previous day. Anil Sharma delivered the vote of thanks.
