Jamshedpur, July 25: Sports Department of Tata Steel organized the Inter Divisional (ID) Chess Championship on 24th and 25th July at JRD Tata Sports Complex. A total of 66 employees from 12 units participated in the championship. Ashish Kumar, Head, Sports, Tata Steel inaugurated the championship.
The participating teams were Shared Services, Iron Makings, JCAPCPL, General Offices, Profit Center, West Bokaro, OMQ, Flat Products, Long Products, ISWP, TSK Kalinganagar and FAMD Sukinda. The championship Chief Arbitor was Jayant Bhuyan and assistant Arbitors were Chandan Prasad and Cheeranji Lal.
Tapas Roy Choudhary, Head (SMD) distributed the prizes to the winners on 25th July along with Bagicha Singh, Sr. Coach.
Team Shared Services ‘A’ team beat Iron Making ‘A’ team to win the championship. Team General Offices ‘B’ team bagged the third place followed by Profit Center ‘A’ team
In another sports triumph, the Table tennis training centre won 6 Gold and 6 Silver medals in 1st Jharkhand State Ranking Table Tennis championship held at Dhanbad from 21-23 July 17.
In Roll Ball, trainees of Roll Ball Training centre have been selected to represent Jharkhand State in the 9th National Mini Roll Ball championship to be held at Guwahti from 28-30 July 17
