Jamshedpur, Oct. 26: After a 50-year-old teacher was arrested on alleged charges of sexual abuse , a five-member team of East Singhbhum district Child Welfare Committee (CWC) visited Rising Sun Public School , a residential school in Parsudih to probe the incident.
Led by district CWC chairperson, Pushpa Tirkey, the team asked other girl students of that school, about whether some of them had also been subjected to the sexual act by teacher identified as Ram Krishna Mishra.
Revealing about the development, one of the CWC members said that only three girl students of different age-group starting from 10 years to 13 years had turned up at their hostel after the Durga Puja vacation.
A six-year-old girl who is a resident of Sitaramdera used to study at the Rising Sun Public School by staying in the hostel on Thursday she refused to go to the school. When her parents inquired about the reason, she revealed that a teacher used to harass her sexually.
Peeved over the incident, her parents met the senior SP, Anoop Birtharay who asked deputy superintendent of police (law and order) Alok Ranjan to get the complaint verified. After verifying the matter, the police swooped over the house of the accused teacher and arrested him.
The accused teacher would lure the six-year-old into sexual act. The victim had revealed that the accused would also do the similar act along with some other girls of the residential school.
DSP (Law and Order) Alok Ranjan said the teacher has been arrested for rape and also under Section of POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offence). He has been forwarded to Ghaghidih Central Jail after production before a judicial magistrate in the afternoon.
