Jamshedpur : The South Eastern Railway (SER) on Tuesday issued a list of trains which will remain cancelled due to the ongoing modernisation and safety related work in various sections of Howrah-Mumbai route.
The Hazur Sahib Nanded-Santragachi Express will remain cancelled on two days- March 4 and 11 for the modernisation work which also includes upgradation of the signalling system. The Santragachi�Hazur Sahib Nanded Express will remain cancelled on March 6 and 13.
The LTT-Tatanagar Antyodaya Express will remain cancelled on March 5, 9, 12 and 16 while the Tatanagar-LTT Antyodaya Express which too runs on the Howrah-Mumbai trunk route will remain cancelled on March 3, 7, 10 and 14.
The Sambalpur-Rourkela Passenger will remain cancelled till March 14 from February 26. The Santragachi-Chennai Antyodaya Express will remain cancelled on March 11 while the Chennai-Santragachi Antyodaya Express will remain cancelled on March 14.
Chief public relations officer of South Eastern Railway, Sanjay Ghosh said they have already informed the authorities concerned. After the modernisation gets completed, speed of mail and express trains travelling in Howrah-Mumbai main line would be augmented.
Meanwhile, passengers traveling to Mumbai are facing harrowing times. Due to cancellation of trains they have no choice left to travel to other places. Due to this, the rush in other trains has increased so much so that the authorities have issued a no-room for trains.
Authorities at Chakradharpur railway division informed that a circular has been issued in this regard.
Located on the Howrah-Mumbai main route Tatanagar is an important station. Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including the high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express. The station sees a daily traffic of 90 mail, express and passenger trains, besides a footfall of more than 60,000 passengers.
Tatanagar station director H K Balmuchu said that they got an official circular regarding the railway job. “We are spreading the message for the passengers so that they are aware about the decisions. The block would be undertaken for modernisation work of railway tracks and signalling system,” he added.
