Seven injured in group clash at ABM College

Jamshedpur: Seven persons were injured in a clash between two factions of student leaders at Abdul Bari Memorial College, Golmuri, on Thursday.
Sources said the rival factions attacked each other with canes, belt and fists. Some of the accused persons reportedly flaunted pistol to threaten their rivals.
While trying to pacify the students, the college principal Dr Mudita Chandra fell down as a result of the pandemonium. Police reached the scene and tried to persuade the warring student leaders. They said they were trying to identify the culprits on the basis of CCTV footage obtained from the school office.
Those injured in the clash were identified as Pappu Yadav, Chandan Thakur, Prem Prakash Dubey, Mangal Singh, Bajrang Kumar, Vivek and Prakash. Both sides have registered FIR in this connection.
Sources said the clash started when Jharkhand Chhatra Morcha leader Arun Kumar allegedly tried to extort donation for Saraswati Puja from several students. When some of the students opposed this, they were beaten up, said Sunil Singh, a student leader.
