Jamshedpur, September 1: General Manager, South Eastern Railway, A K Goel held a day-long Works Review Meeting at railway’s Headquarters, Garden Reach on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by all four Divisional Railway Managers of Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur and Ranchi and all Principal Head of Departments of S E Railway.
The meeting was held to review the status of ongoing projects and passenger amenity works undertaken by S E Railway with the plan for completion of the targeted portion of the works as fixed for this current financial year 2016-17.
A K Goel at the outset congratulated all the Divisional Railway Managers and Principal Officers for the performance in the first five months of the current financial year 2016-17 in relation to the progress of the works.
General Manager emphasized on safety in train operations which he considered to be the most important.
He concentrated on ways and means to prevent accidents which occur mainly at unmanned level crossings and stressed on elimination of such level crossings as per fixed target, on top priority.
GM stressed on the improvement of passenger amenity works at various stations, specially all the major stations where passenger movement is high.
For facelift of major stations, GM urged to focus on the façade of stations, flooring, covered sheds, waiting halls, booking offices and other similar passenger interface places.
The works on passenger amenity were discussed and analyzed in detail and the increase of total outlay for the stipulated works was also discussed to bring about visible improvement in all divisions of S E Railway.
This apart, the works on traffic facility, closing of un-manned level crossings, road over bridge/road under bridge, target of completion were elaborately discussed in the meeting.
GM advised all Principal Officers and Divisional Railway Managers to have a realistic assessment for the works to be completed within the time framed limit.
All Principal Officers of the concerned departments spoke at the meeting and shared their views on the ongoing works, so did all the Divisional Railway Managers and assured compliance of the schedule of completion..
