Seraikela villagers planning agitation arrested midway

Jamshedpur: Seraikela police arrested several villagers of Hathiadih on their way to the DC office on Monday to participate in a demonstration on the displacement issue.
Led by district JMM president Ranjeet Pradhan, the villagers were stopped midway by the police. No sooner did police prevent the villagers, the villagers got irked and blocked the Seraikela-Kandra main road to protest police action. The villagers alleged that the district administration was trying to suppress the agitation planned by the victims of displacement in a bid to ensure that their demands are never fulfilled.
After arresting the villagers, police took them to a camp jail near Dugni. The villagers were released on PR bond around 5.30 pm.
Reacting over the arresting, Seraikela MLA Champai Soren said the police action was unjustified. He said the villagers were going ahead with the pre-planned agitation programme. He said the villagers will not stop their agitation.
