Seraikela, June 28: The traders of Seraikela Nagar panchayat Tuesday unanimously decided to boycott single use plastic to save the environment. Local public representatives have also supported their decision.
Sources said the decision to boycott single use plastic was taken at a meeting convened at the Seraikela Nagar Panchayat auditorium today. The meeting was chaired by Nagar Panchayat chairperson Meenakshi Patnayak and was organized following the directive of the Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change.
At the meeting, it was unanimously decided to boycott single use plastic from 1st July onwards. The banned plastic items include ear buds having plastic sticks, candy sticks, plastic flags, plastic and thermocol cups, glasses, forks, knives, trays and plastic invitation cards, sources said.
