Jamshedpur, Sep 3: A major casualty was averted on Saturday as the security personnel of district police and CRPF engaged in anti-Maoist operations recovered 35 cane bombs from Rugudih and Dodarda road under Kuchai police station.
Revealing about the achievement, Seraikela-Kharsawan SP, Anand Prakash at a press conference said that the ultras had laid cane bombs in large numbers under Kuchai police station area for casualty to the police and paramilitary forces during the latters’ anti-insurgency operation. The weight of each bomb is 4 to 5 kgs.
He said that the bombs were found on an intelligence input. It was immediately destroyed by experts through a controlled explosion.

“A major casualty was averted as we recovered the powerful bombs. It is indeed a major achievement for the forces and this will dampen the spirits of the ultras, ” said SP.
“Security has been beefed up in the area and they were keeping strict vigil on movement of the Naxalites. The plan is to keep a tab on the camps being operated by ultras,” said another official.

Sources informed that the mobility of the police has prevented the extremists from carrying out any violent activity in the past few days in the entire Kolhan. All the police stations in the three districts of the division including East and West Singhbhum and Seraikela Kharsawan have been asked to beef up the security and keep a vigil at the bordering areas.
Sources added that apart from ensuring deployment of additional police and paramilitary forces, the operations and patrolling had been intensified to check the possibility of entry of Maoists from neighbouring states. Strict vigil is being kept in Maoist-affected pockets of the district.
