Seraikela Police Seize Brown Sugar, Arrest Three in Kapali Raid

Seraikela: The Seraikela Police arrested three individuals and seized 679 packets of brown sugar during a Wednesday night raid in Bandhugora. The recovered contraband, weighing approximately 82.80 grams, has an estimated market value of ₹16.5 lakh.

The Operation at Bandhugora

Acting on specific intelligence, a special police team targeted a rented residence belonging to Imtiaz Khan. Reports indicated that Maharaja Ali and his associates were operating a large-scale heroin trafficking hub from the premises.

During the search, officers recovered 599 white paper sachets, 80 red sachets, and four plastic pouches containing the narcotic substance. In addition to the drugs, police seized an electronic weighing machine, four mobile phones, and two motorcycles, including a Royal Enfield Bullet.

Suspects Identified

The police identified the arrested tenants as:

  • Maharaja Ali (22): A resident of Sini Kamalpur and a known repeat offender with three prior NDPS Act cases registered in Mango, RIT, and Sakchi.
  • Asgar Ali (52): A resident of Bandhugora.
  • Shabnam Parveen (24): Originally from Adityapur’s Muslim Basti.

Legal Action and Supervision

Authorities produced the accused in court under Case No. 66/2026, registered under Sections 17(b), 21(b), and 25 of the NDPS Act, 1985.

The raid took place under the supervision of Arvind Sinha, with a team including Kapali Outpost officers Dhiranjan Kumar and Anita Soren. Officials stated that this operation effectively dismantled a key distribution point for illegal substances in the Kapali area.
