Seraikela-Kharsawan on way to achieve development and welfare targets

Seraikela: Seraikela-Kharsawan district administration has taken long strides in the areas of development and welfare in the year 2018 so far. Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan recounted the initiatives taken by the district administration to implement various government schemes.

As per the administration, a total of 3848 housing units have been approved till June in the financial year 2018-19 against a target of 3900 housing units. A total of 7890 housing units were constructed from 2016 to 2018. A total of 259 beneficiaries were given ownership of the houses allotted to them under the Adivasi Jan Utthan Abhiyan.

Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, a total of 7,67,191 human work days have been created in the district against a target of 9,85,431 till July. The workers are being paid their wages through Direct Benefit of Transfer. Altogether 3,970 projects have been completed under MGNREGS in the district. There are 47,878 MGNREGS properties that have undergone geo-tagging. Under Birsa Munda mango horticulture scheme, work has begun in Chandil, Gamharia, Kharsawan, Kuchai, Neemdih, Rajnagar and Seraikela.

For integrated development of tribal people, 218 houses are being built under Shahid Gram Vikas Yojana. Scholarships are being given to the students through DBT. Under SC ST Atrocities Prevention Act, compensation worth Rs 3 lakh was given to 12 victims. Forest lease rights were given to 2510 people. Boundary walls were constructed around 47 Jaher Sthans.

According to the administration, 2,867 families were given free LPG connections in the month of July under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

In the field of education, funds were allotted for the purchase of benches and desks in the government schools. Coaching is being provided to medical and engineering aspirants under Akansha Yojana. Fishery department has also done a lot to motivate fish farmers.

In road construction, roads were widened and repaired from Kharsawan to Chakradharpur. Health department has launched Measles Rubella vaccination drive from 26th July last. A total of 3,84,093 children would be immunized.
