Seraikela-Kharsawan on the path of speedy progress: Chhavi Ranjan

52 panchayats declared ODF, all schools zero dropout, announces DC on R-Day

Seraikela: Out of the 132 panchayats in Seraikela-Kharsawan, 52 have been declared open defecation free (ODF). The district administration has launched a Swachhata Sankalp campaign from 26th January till 25th February to ensure that all the remaining panchayats become ODF too. This was announced here on Friday by the deputy commissioner (DC) of Seraikela-Kharsawan, Chhavi Ranjan, on the occasion of Republic Day at the Birsa Munda Stadium in Seraikela.

The DC, accompanied by Superintendent of Police, Chandan Kumar Sinha, inspected the Republic Day parade after hoisting the National Flag. He said the district had achieved many milestones in the last one year. He appealed to the people to actively participate in the Swachhata campaign. He said all 132 panchayats of the district had been declared ‘zero dropout’ panchayats. He said a number of initiatives had been taken in different fields including public health and education. He said women were being encouraged to opt for institutional delivery.

The DC said a total of 35 schools of the district were finally selected for the National Web Portal. Out of these, 10 schools have been selected for the state level awards. Parineeta of Rajnagar was awarded for bravery. Several others including Jal Sahiyas, Mukhiyas and Swachhatagrahis were also honoured on the occasion along with freedom fighters.

The DC appealed to the people to play an active role in keeping the society and the country united despite diversity amongst the people. He said the people should adopt a scientific approach and do away with superstitions. He said women should be honoured and people should have a quest for knowledge.

Chhavi Ranjan further said that Seraikela-Kharsawan had secured the first place in fish production all over Jharkhand. He said cage culture technique was being utilized for the purpose of rearing fish in reservoirs. He further said that the road construction department had constructed roads having a total stretch of 68 km. Many important projects are being implemented in the district, he said.
