Ranchi, Nov. 24: Artisans from Jharkhand are making their presence felt at the India International Trade Fair 2015, New Delhi.
Trade Fair is the venue where producers and traders find market for their goods and the people get opportunity to get familiar with the products from far flung areas.
The products made in Seraikela Kharsawan district of Kolhan Division are being highly appreciated. The Seraikela Kharsawan makes handicrafts of locally found raw materials- Kanshi grass, palm leaves and Bamboo.
The grass is procured from the nearby forests and damp areas. The artisans take immense efforts to procure and bring these materials for the workshop. They are absolutely eco friendly and a great source of employment. Moreover they keep on trying new forms, hence very innovative and creative.
Primarily, the Kansi grass found in the barren areas is used by the tribals for roofing their houses. Here at the IITF Mrs. Usha is showcasing innumerable products made from this grass showing its utilitarian value. Her products comprise of lamp shed, handbags, flower vases, dustbins, jewellery boxes, pen stands etc. The prices of these products range from 200 to1000 rupees.
Another tribal product which is the talk of the town is the pickles made from Bamboo. The pickles are made from kareelof the Bamboo.
The product is being promoted by Shakuntala Griha Udyog. This pickle is not only very tasty but very healthy also. One kg of this pickle costs only 300 rupees. If properly promoted and marketed it has the potential of earning huge bounties for the state.
