Jamshedpur Man Dies in Seraikela–Kandra Road Crash

Seraikela: A horrific road accident on the Seraikela–Kandra Main Road killed a 57-year-old man from Jamshedpur on Wednesday, triggering public outrage and a brief road blockade.

The victim, Ramen Kumar Das, a resident of Birsanagar in Jamshedpur, was riding his motorcycle when the accident occurred near Kolabira Das General Store under Seraikela police station limits.

Seraikela police rushed to the spot after receiving information and recovered the remains with great difficulty. Eyewitnesses said the accident occurred when Das attempted to overtake two trucks moving in the same direction. He got trapped between them, which led to the fatal crash.

Angered by repeated accidents in the area, local residents blocked the main road and demanded immediate measures to control speeding vehicles. District Council member Shambhu Mandal, who reached the spot, said Kolabira market is a busy stretch and has witnessed multiple such incidents due to high-speed traffic. He reiterated his demand for speed breakers and alleged that authorities have failed to act.

Seraikela police station in-charge Vinay Kumar arrived at the scene with his team and confirmed that police have seized both trucks and the motorcycle. He said officials have initiated legal proceedings and assured residents that they will take steps to prevent such accidents. Following his assurance, protesters lifted the road blockade after nearly 30 minutes.
