Seraikela, Jan 15: Seraikela-Kharsawan police arrested Bablu Bagchi, accused of Seraikela jail break case, from Ambikapur, Chhatisgarh, on Tuesday. They forwarded him to judicial custody today.
According to SP Karthik S, �Six prisoners including two Naxalites had escaped from Seraikela Divisional Jail on 17th August 2011 by taking the jailor Yogendra Paswan and the jail warden at gunpoint. One of the accused, Balram Sahu alias David took the jailor to his chamber under pretext of having a word with him and took him hostage with the help of his associates. A vehicle was waiting outside the jail for the accused persons. Others who escaped from jail were identified as Somra Hansda, Ravi Munda, Ganesh Pramanik and Rakhal Kandeyang.�
An FIR was lodged against nine persons including the jailor and two wardens in this connection. Charge sheet has been submitted in the court in this connection. The jailor and warden were suspended after the incident, said the SP.
According to the SP, one of the jail break accused, identified as Ravi Munda, was killed in police encounter. A police jawan was also killed in the incident. Four more accused persons were arrested later. But Bablu Bagchi remained at large for long. He was staying at a rented accommodation with his wife and two children in Ambikapur for the last seven years. He had changed his name in Aadhar card by the name of Deepak Tiwary, son of Mithilesh Tiwary. He is wanted in several loot and robbery cases.
After escaping from jail, Bagchi fled to Mumbai with his paramour and got married to her.
