SER to re-introduce Shalimar-Jaipur Weekly SummerSpecial Express from Sept 18

Jamshedpur, July 23 : In view of heavy rush of passengers witnessed during festive seasons, the South Eastern Railway has decided to re-introduce the Shalimar-Jaipur Weekly AC SummerSpecial Express, which runs via Tatanagar station, from September 18 for two months. The train which was earlier introduced in March ran till the end of June this year.

The train with six AC-II, 10 AC-III coaches and two EOG (end on generation) power cars (carrying DG sets) stops at Kharagpur, Tatanagar, Chakradharpur, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Bilaspur, Pendra Road, Katni, Murwara, Damoh, Sagour, Guna , Kota, BansthaliNiwai, Durgapura and Jaipur.

A SER notification issued on Saturday stated that the train will again run from September 18 to November 29. According to the schedule issued by Garden Reach, the Kolkata- based headquarters of SER, the Shalimar-Jaipur Weekly AC Summer Special Express ( 08061) will leave

Shalimar every Monday at 8.20 pm and will reach Jaipur at 6.35 am on Wednesday. In the return direction, the train (08062) will leave Jaipur every Wednesday at 12:45 pm and will arrive Shalimar at 11.20 pm, the next day. The UP train will arrive at Tatanagar at around 12.30 am ( Tuesday) while the DN train from Jaipur will come to Tatanagar railway station at around 7 pm on Thursaday.

As earlier there was no direct train to Jaipur from Tatanagar, the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( SCCI) in June first week had demanded the railways to in view of large number traders visting Jaipur, the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( SCCI) had sent a letter to Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu demanding regularisation of the Shalimar-Jaipur AC Special train, which goes via Tatanagar railway station.

SCCI had demanded a train to Jaipur keeping in view a large population of Rajasthanis in the steel city. Businessmen want a direct train to Jaipur where they have to go for business. In the absence of a direct train to Jaipur, they are required to travel to Howrah to board a train for Jaipur.
