SER Central Hospital starts Covid-19 vaccinations

Kolkata, Jan 29: As the Nation begins the world’s largest immunisation drive against COVID 19, targeting healthcare personnel and frontline workers in the first phase, South Eastern Railway also joined the mission and launched the vaccination session today (29.01.2021) at SER Central Hospital, Garden Reach. Approximately 200 Health Care Workers will be vaccinated today. Initially, in the first phase, more than 600 Railway Health Care Workers will be vaccinated.

The beneficiaries are being administered the Covishield Vaccine and there is wide acceptance of the vaccine among the Health Care Workers of SER Central Hospital. There was a positive response from the Health Care Personnel including senior doctors about the vaccination programme. 

All the recipients of the vaccine are being strictly monitored. After vaccination all are being observed for 30 minutes for any adverse reaction.

A team of doctors has been formed to monitor the AEFI (Adverse Event Following Immunisation) after vaccination. A special cell is monitoring the full process and to build up awareness amongst railway employees.

These sessions of vaccination are being carried out as per guidelines issued by the Government of India and even non railway Health Care Workers will also be allowed for vaccination at this Centre.

This immunisation programme is being keenly monitored by Dr. A K Malhotra, Medical Director, SER Central Hospital, Garden Reach and his team of doctors and Health Care staff.
