SER cancels special trains via Tatanagar due to cyclone Yaas

Jamshedpur, May 23: South East Railway ( SER) has decided to cancel several special express trains scheduled as a precautionary measure due to cyclone Yaas. Cyclone Yaas is likely to make landfall along the Bengal-Odisha coast between May 24 and May 26.  The trains include 02074 Bhubaneswar-Howrah and 02073 Howrah-Bhubaneswar from May 25 to 27, 02088 Puri-Howrah and 02087 Howrah-Puri from May 25 to 27, 02245 Howrah-Yesvantpur , 02246 Yesvantpur-Howrah from May 24 to 26, 02802 New Delhi  Puri  02801 Puri- New Delhi from May 24 to 26, 02814 Anand Vihar-Bhubaneswar on May 24, 02209 Bhubaneswar-New Delhi on May 26, 02816 Aanad Vihar-Puri May 24 to May 26, 02815 Puri-Anand Viharfrom May 26 to 27, 02875    Puri-Anand Vihar on May 25, and 02876 Anand Vihar-Puri on May 25.

According to the local Meteorological Department (IMD) a low-pressure area has formed over the east-central Bay of Bengal and it is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by May 24. As per the weather department, the storm would continue to move north-northwestwards and intensify further and reach the North Bay of Bengal near West Bengal adjoining North Odisha and Bangladesh coasts around the morning of May 26.

Officials of Tatanagar Railway station informed that they are spreading the word on the changes being made so that the passengers can plan their trip accordingly. Chakradharpur is the highest revenue earning railway division in terms of freight in the country.

A Low-pressure area has formed over east-central Bay of Bengal today (22nd May). It is very likely to concentrate into a depression over east-central Bay of Bengal by tomorrow, the 23rd May morning. It is very likely to move north-northwestwards, intensify into a Cyclonic Storm by 24th May and further into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm during the subsequent 24 hours,” the IMD said in its latest update on Saturday.
