Semi-burnt body of a man found on the bank of Subernarekha in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: In a disturbing discovery, an unidentified semi-burnt body of a man was found on the banks of the Subernarekha River under the Sakchi police station area on Wednesday morning. The gruesome incident has left the local authorities puzzled as they scramble to identify the deceased and investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

Though it appears that someone might have tried to hide evidence by dumping the semi-burnt body in the river bank, the police claim it to be not a murder case.

A couple of bustee dwellers who had come to the river for taking a bath spotted the body and spread the information about it, leading to the Sakchi police station.

Later a police party arrived at the scene and shifted it to the MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem.

OC, Sakchi, Sanjay Singh confirmed the recovery of a man’s body from the Subernarekha river bank but denied it to be a murder case. “ It is too early to reach a conclusion. There is no injury mark on the body. It is not a murder case. We are expecting an autopsy report and the cause of death can be ascertained only through the postmortem report, ” said the OC.

According to preliminary findings, the body appeared to be that of a middle-aged man, approximately in his 40s. The body was severely burnt, making it difficult to ascertain the cause of death or any other identifying features. It is suspected that the body was set on fire elsewhere and dumped in the river to conceal evidence.

Local residents expressed shock and concern over the gruesome discovery, describing the incident as highly unusual for the peaceful area. They urged the authorities to swiftly identify the deceased and bring the culprits to justice.

The police have launched a comprehensive investigation in an attempt to establish the victim’s identity. They are also reviewing missing persons’ reports and reaching out to nearby police stations for any relevant information.
