Jamshedpur: Jharkhand government is soon going to launch ‘selfie with bag’ campaign across the state with the view to make the state free from banned polythene.
The director of Swachh Bharat Mission in Jharkhand Rajesh Verma on Tuesday directed all municipal bodies across the state to launch an intensive campaign against polythene.
The selfie with bag campaign is to be run all over the state with the view to rid the state of polythene menace before World Environment Day, he said during the review meeting conducted through video conferencing.
Sharma said this year’s theme of Swachh Bharat Mission is ‘beat plastic pollution’.
Praising the efforts put in by the JNAC to prevent pollution, Sharma said other civic bodies should also draw inspiration and carry out such campaigns in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
He said public participation was vital in making the campaign successful. He said all municipal bodies should plant saplings near dumping sites on the occasion Environment Day.
The representatives of Mango Notified Area Committee and Jugsalai Municipality were also present during the review meeting.
